Laura Lakeotes is a Senior Associate at TencerSherman, LLP and her practice focuses on employment law, school district defense, PAGA claims, class action, and general business litigation.
Prior to joining TencerSherman, Ms. Lakeotes worked at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith, LLP, where her practice focused on complex civil litigation, insurance defense, environmental and toxic tort, real property, personal injury, and product liability matters.
Ms. Lakeotes began her legal career with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego’s Shriver Housing Department, where she handled a high-volume housing docket, advocated in court daily for low-income clients facing eviction, and was cited as one of the top five defense attorneys for real property cases in San Diego in 2022 by UniCourt.
Ms. Lakeotes received her juris doctor from California Western School of Law (CWSL) in 2019, was licensed in 2020, and is a member of the State Bar of California. While studying for the bar, Ms. Lakeotes worked full time as a law clerk for Miller, Monson, Peshel, Polacek & Hoshaw, assisting the senior named partner with all aspects of civil litigation and, with permission from the presiding judge, second chaired a five-day probate trial with no notice.
During law school, Ms. Lakeotes tutored 2Ls in Constitutional Law I and struggling 1Ls on efficient study, briefing, writing, and testing strategies. Ms. Lakeotes was also on the CWSL Women’s Law Caucus board, interned with California Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee, and Congressman Scott Peters’ successful reelection campaign.
Prior to law school, Ms. Lakeotes worked for the Department of Energy for almost thirteen years, supporting homeland security, defense applications, defense experimentation, and nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). Ms. Lakeotes was contracted to Bechtel Nevada, then National Security Technologies, LLC, a joint venture formed in 2006 between Northrop Grumman Corporation, AECOM, CH2M Hill, and Babcock & Wilcox (B&W). Ms. Lakeotes was involved at every level of the maintenance and operations contract for the NNSS, including work in emergency operations, counterintelligence support, and was matrixed simultaneously to Los Alamos National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, providing support for classified subcritical experiments.
Ms. Lakeotes received her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2010.
